Raukawa Powhiri Hui

On Wednesday 5 August 2020 the ASL, principals and school representatives were invited to a hui with Raukawa representative, Louis Armstrong and his team to talk about Powhiri within our schools and Kahui Ako community.  This was an exciting hui where we were able to unpack the kawa and protocols for Powhiri within our schools.  It was great to have a shared understanding of the area of Raukawa and the importance of upholding tikanga during our cultural practices.  Moving forward the ASL team and a focus group of teachers will be looking at developing our very own Kahui Ako kawa and protocols for Powhiri.  This is an exciting step towards unity within our community and giving our tamariki a sense of belonging.
